Yesterday I
arrived back to England from my trip to my family in Finland and also
a short visit to Copenhagen, one of my favourite cities. I had a
great time on the holiday and now have to get used to my usual
routine again. It's not too bad though, as I can cook in my own
kitchen again, have the familiar shops around me to get the produce
and can blog more! I will be posting more about the holiday later,
once I get my photos sorted. In Copenhagen I detected some new
favourite places that I definitely want to recommend for you and I
will also post a couple of recipes I cooked for my family over
Easter, nothing too fancy, just basic veggie dishes. I had the
feeling though that we were eating more than on Christmas...
Here are a few
souvenirs that I brought with me. I tried not to buy that much this
time and even managed to keep the foodie stuff to a minimum (for my
normal habits). I bought a new Moomin mug featuring the cute ancestor
of the Moomins and napkins that have a map printed of the nearby
archipelago to my home. In Copenhagen I did some Mikkeller beer
shopping and got the cutest wooden ice bear ever from the North
Atlantic House. I also bought a Copenhagen tea towel to add to my
collections and birch smoked salt the ice bear is posing with.
I will be hosting
Eat Your Greens cooking challenge again this month and we are
welcoming new recipes for April. Please share your vegetarian or
vegan recipes that contain a green vegetable with the challenge. Post
the recipe on your blog and send the link to the post either by email
to my co-host Shaheen and me, or simply add the link to the comment
section below this post. Have a look here for more details on
how to enter. I would be very happy to see many nice recipes, as
spring is coming and it's nice to cook with fresh seasonal stuff. I'm
very excited to see what you'll come up with!
Have a good week!

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your nice comment Sherry! Tea towels are just the best. :)
DeleteI adore Mikkeller beer, soooo good! Love the packaging too, it was a highlight of my own trip to Denmark a couple of years ago. Glad that you had a great trip (love the Moomin mug!). So nice to 'meet' you via In my Kitchen, I am new to the link up so it's been so much fun meeting new people in their kitchens! Can't wait to read some of your recipes -Laura
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting Laura and nice to meet you too. Mikkeller really are the best, I already want to go back. There will be a couple of Copenhagen posts soon once I get around writing them.
DeleteThe classic understated Scandi style of your souveniers is gorgeous, the tea towels look too good to use. Thanks for the peek into you kitchen
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the nice comment. I normally use these sort of tea towels only as decoration on my food photos. :)
DeleteOh my goodness I would love to visit Finland! Your souvenirs leave me wanting to check the airline schedules. :)
ReplyDeleteNice to hear Maureen! I can definitely recommend some places for you! :)
DeleteI'm off to look into your 'eat your greens challenge'...
ReplyDeleteOh please do Shari, would love to see your green veggie recipe!
DeleteYour souvenirs look lovely and I especially like the look of the birch smoked salt. I've just linked my homemade ricotta and pea tart to Eat Your Greens. Here it is: http://searchingforspice.com/2016/04/11/homemade-ricotta-and-pea-tart/
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm still considering where to use the birch smoked salt first, but I'm sure it's going to be good. Thank you so much also for taking part in Eat Your Greens, the round up will be here at the end of the month. :)

I'm sure that Scandiphile is a word, at least I know what you mean! :) I'm so happy that you decided to take part in Eat Your Greens. I will be posting the round up at the end of this month.
DeleteHere's my entry VegHog. http://allotment2kitchen.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/stir-fried-edamame-beans-with-smoked.html
ReplyDeletePlease note I have received some entries via e mail and will forward them to you in the next couple of days.
Thank you Shaheen! :)
DeleteSo jealous of so many things in this post. Scandanavia is just about as opposite as you could get from Australia in terms of food, landscape and culture. Almost no one here would have even heard of a Moomin - but I have and I love that mug! What a wonderful post for me to pore over. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Fiona! I've never been to Australia, but do realise that it has to be quite different to the Nordic countries, snow is normal for us. :)
DeleteSounds like you had a lovely holiday. I just love the smoked salt, I may have to track some down to try :) Lovely meeting you for #IMK, hope to see you at Miss Food Fairy soon x
ReplyDeleteYour treasures from your trip are delightful! Nice to bring home reminders of where you've been, but even nicer to get home to your own kitchen. :) Glad you had a fun time!
