In my kitchen in June

It has been all about good food and eating lately. The lockdown has lifted here, but let the comfort eating continue! I’ve also been quite keen on fresh salads now that the weather has even been summerly on a few days. It has also been inviting for such lovely organic vegan rosé wine. Here are some foods from my kitchen, because I haven’t been buying anything else.

Have you tasted Naturli’s vegan pizzas yet? I love both of the variants, but I think that the Capricciosa with plantbased cold cut, champignons and tomatoes is my favourite. It reminds me of a vegetarian ready meal baguettes from my study times that I ate more than it’s probably allowed. I’m happy to have detected similar flavours 20+ years later. The Mexicana with plantbased mince and red pepper is also very tasty, though.

I detected some Peas of Heaven products, vegan sausages and “Peacon”, which were a really nice quality. This brand is a new acquaintance for me, and I will be buying their products from now on.

The Pan-fry gnocchi pops were a spontaneous buy, but they were quite good. You only need to fry them and they’re ready. They are perfect for some quick working from home lunches. Both variants, spinach and mozzarella and tomato and mozzarella tasted good.

This blue chia pudding with coconut, pineapple and mango from the Fresh Market in Copenhagen is so nice and it’s actually a huge portion. I had it as breakfast on three mornings.

As usual I’m sharing this post with Sherry from Sherry’s Pickings, who is hosting the monthly In My Kitchen blogging event.

Have a nice Friday and weekend everyone!

  1. I'm more interested than every in vegetarian cuisine. Too bad the brands you list are local to your area, so I'll never see them.

    1. Good to hear that you're more interested in vegetarian food. I'm sure that there are also loads of good products in your area, and Naturli are getting quite global, so I would imagine that they would be around in the US too. Take care!

  2. Your food looks so good! That feta salad is beautiful. The "peacon" made me laugh because it sounds like American pronunciation of pecan. But it sounds interesting. We don't seem to have so much pea based plant proteins here although there are so many new vegan products that there are probably a few with pea protein. And the gnocchi sounds like fun - I really hope to find that in the shops soon. Good luck with easing lockdown - it is fun but has some moments for anxiety.

    1. I like the pea based products, as soya is always a bit controversial and not local to my area. It's quite weird going back to cafés, but we are doing it carefully, also trying to support those small businesses.

  4. hi veghog
thanks for joining in with us this month. so- pea protein? is it green peas? chickpeas? split peas? the gnocchi pops look very tasty, but i'm not too sure about that peacon:-) i wonder if we get it here? hope you're doing well during covid. so have all the restrictions lifted in denmark? keep safe

    1. I think pea protein is mostly yellow and green split peas, but it could also depend on the manufacturer. Green peas are grown a lot here in the north, so I would expect them to use these local peas.
Not all restrictions have lifted, there's still social distancing and limits for group gatherings, but I'm back to work and we've even eaten out a couple of times. It feels odd after that isolation.

  7. Those gnocchi products sound really delicious, I've never seen them here though. There are an increasing number of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free offerings available in the stores. I will keep looking for them. Many of us are eating less meat these days.
